Impact of a German Printing Ink Ordinance on the single European market for packaged foods and beverages
On 5th July 2016, the draft of a German Regulation on printed food contact materials (“Printing Ink Ordinance”), notified by the German Federal Government, was published within the TRIS procedure (TRIS (2016) 02044). The member associations of the Packaging Ink Joint Industry Taskforce (PIJITF), representing the European food packaging supply chain, publish a joint industry position paper assessing the impact of the draft regulation on the single European market for packaged foods and beverages.

As a result of its analysis of the draft German Printing Ink Ordinance pursuant to the TRIS procedure, the EU Commission announced its intention to adopt EU legislation for printed food contact materials. This note provides information about the expected process.
